Chromebooks for Grades 6 through 8
As you may have heard, with the start of the 2020-2021 school year the Grafton Public Schools will expand its one-to-one (one device for EVERY student) program to students in grades 6-8. While the expansion of our one-to-one program has been a long-term goal, the unfortunate reality of Covid19 and funding from the CARES Act have made it possible and necessary.
At this time, we are asking ALL families with students entering grades 6, 7, and 8 to arrange to pick up their child’s assigned device on one of the following curbside deployment dates below. Please be sure to only go to your child’s school for device pick up. Devices have been prepared and labeled for each student specifically, and will be housed/available at their school only.
Devices not picked up during these deployment dates will be distributed to students at the start of the 2020-21 school year.
Parents/Guardians who are unable to pick up their student’s device themselves may send another individual/adult. Please complete the form (linked here) only if someone other than a parent/guardian will be picking up a student device.

When you arrive at the school it is not necessary to get out of your car. Please pull up to the curb by the distribution tent and a technology staff member will come to your car, collect the signed Acknowledgment Form, and provide the device and charger.
Students in grade 6 (and a small number of 7th grades students) will receive brand new devices; therefore, it is highly recommended that families purchase the optional insurance to cover the cost of any potential damage. The three year plan will cover student devices through their 8th grade year. Please note, beyond providing the names of device insurance vendors, the District has no involvement in the purchase of insurance or claims when damage occurs. Please see details from two recommended insurance companies below.
Students in grades 7 and 8 will receive devices previously used in the district; as a result, the District will work with families when damage occurs and repair or replacement are needed.
The District recommends purchasing a protective sleeve/case designed to fit an 11” laptop/chromebook to protect the device during transport to and from school and from class to class. Some options for protective sleeves are linked here.
The District will have cases available for purchase at the time of device pick-up for $20. Checks can be made out to Grafton Public Schools.
