Message from the Director of Special Education

Good afternoon,

Nicole and I hope that this email finds you and your families well in the midst of these challenging times.  We know what is being asked of parents at home is daunting, and we wish there was more we could do to alleviate some of the stress.  Just a reminder, if you are finding things at the breaking point, please reach out to a school counselor or school psychologist.  We will get through this together!

Your school liaison should have reached out to inform you of your current remote learning schedule.  If not, please let your building principal, myself, or Nicole know.

Finally, Associate Commissioner Russell Johnson has asked local districts to send out the attached to parents.  The first is a Letter to Families about Remote Learning [dated April 9 but released 4/17/20 with translations in several languages available on DESE's COVID Website] to explain access to services in our current environment. The second is a Family Resource Toolbox,  [with translations in several languages available on DESE's COVID Website] which lists different agencies that may provide some support as you navigate special services during the closure.

This email will be posted to the Grafton COVID Website as well for reference.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Stay safe, be well, and take care,

Bob Wall & Nicole MacDonald
