We are looking forward to hosting our 2nd Annual Specialist Nigth!  Come as a family to experience all that your child does throughout the year in Art, Music and PE!

NGES Specialist Nightis Tuesday, February 5th!  Due to the high attendance for this event, we will break it into two groups.  Please see the schedule below:

5:00-6:00PM: Kindergarten families are invited to rotate through PE, Music and Art!

6:00-7:00PM: Grade 1 families are invited to rotate through PE, Music and Art!

Please note that families will begin in an assigned location and will be asked to rotate every 20 minutes, to ensure time in each location!

(If you have a child in both grades, please feel free to combine for one or stay for both)

NGES Edcamp is comingWe hope that you parents, will help us once again put on an EdCamp here at NGES!  Not sure what EdCamp is? Edcamp started as professional development for teachers. Branded as an “unconference”, teachers are engaged in personalized, authentic learning. At NGES, we would like to offer Edcamp for students.  Students will have the opportunity to select learning opportunities that are as individual as they are! So, save the date! EdCamp will be held on Friday, April 12th!

Valentine’s Day Celebrations: Will be held on Thursday, February 14th.  Thank you in advance to our amazing Room Parents who will be coordinating the celebrations!

Tower of Books Challenge:  Our students are taking great PRIDE in the accomplishment of completing the first challenge in the Tower of Books Challenge!  By Thursday February 14th, we would like to CHALLENGE our students to complete the first challenge.  If 80% of our school completes the challenge, students will be treated to watching/listening to a favorite book video during lunch on Friday before the break.  If you are in need of the first Challenge, please see the attachment in the email for this update.

Word of the week:  Our word of the week is pride. We will introduce the word on Monday morning and then continue to discuss and use it throughout the week. A child-friendly definition for pride could be,  to feel happy or satisfied with work you have done or something you have accomplished. A great book to pair with the word is The Name Jar, by Xangsook Choi.
