Why hello! Thanks for visiting my page. I grew up in New York and Connecticut and graduated from Tufts University in 1989 (BA, English). My professional life has always been connected to teaching and communicating.
I started teaching twenty years ago, in 1996, when I went to Cameroon (Central Africa) with the Peace Corps. I taught ESL in a French-speaking secondary school. Later, I received my teaching credential at Pacific Oaks University in Pasadena, California (I'm in the process of obtaining my Masters in Human Development there as well). In 2006, my family relocated to Marlborough, Massachusetts, where I taught for seven years at Hillside School, an independent boys' middle school. This is my fourth year in Grafton and first with the fifth grade team. I feel intensely fortunate to have found the dynamic, fun, tight-knit learning community that is North Street!
On the communications side, I played guitar in a Boston rock band for several years in the 1990s. I was also a marketing writer with PJA East in Cambridge, MA, and I worked in Hollywood as a television writer's assistant in the 2000s. I continue to love writing - songs, stories, journals, but especially... report card comments!
My wife and I have two daughters (14 and 11). We live in Shrewsbury. I'm an avid reader, runner, Red Sox follower, gardener, chicken-rearer, music and podcast listener, dog-walker, guitar player, and youth soccer coach. I also perform a kinesthetic musical show for kids called Run Along! under the moniker "dadams."
