Degrees and Certifications:

Heather Welch

Welcome to my new home page!  I am excited to work here at North Street Elementary School in my new role as School Nurse.  Nancy and I have been working together this summer to prepare for the new school year.  Thank you so much Nancy!  You will be missed!
I am a Boston College graduate with a degree in Elementary Education.  After graduation, a friend of mine, who knew me very well, suggested I start a career in public safety.    I joined the Ashland Fire Department as a call firefighter and became a certified Emergency Medical Technician.   A few years later, I was hired as a full time career Firefighter.  I served the department and community for the next twenty years in Ashland.
I fell in love with the medical field and I wanted to learn more. I went back to school at Quinsigamond Community College and obtained my Paramedic certification.  During my time at the college they were developing a bridge program from Paramedic to Registered Nurse.  A few years after obtaining my certification, I was enrolled in the first bridge program to be held at QCC.  I successfully completed the program and obtained my Nursing license. The past few years I have been working as a Registered Nurse at Reliant Medical Group and ReadyMed Urgent Care.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, running, hiking with my dogs, and spending time with my family.  I belong to several clubs in the area including MRA Multisport, Tri Valley Frontrunners, VIP Tri-Training, and Baby Rhino Multisport.  I have been racing the past few years recreationally and competitively.  My biggest accomplishment was finishing 2nd place for my age division at the ITU World Championships in Penticton, Canada representing Team USA.  My next race will be the Greenway Challenge here in the Blackstone Valley area as part of a relay team.
I am excited to start my next journey here at North Street Elementary School.  Let's have a great year!
