    October Fun!
It's hard to believe that we are more than half way through October! The students have been working hard on their articulation and language skills. New programs have been started focusing on social skills and superhero behavior! Superhero behavior is ears are always listening to the speaker, eyes are always looking at the speaker, hands are safely by our sides, feet are quiet on the ground and our brain is always thinking about what the speaker is saying! The students seem to be really enjoying the program! Next week we have a lot of fun speech and language Halloween activities planned! It should be a spooky fun week!
    Welcome Back!
Another school year is upon us and I am so excited to see all the children ready to learn!

Many people ask ,"what is speech and language therapy?" Language is made up of socially shared rules that include what words mean, how to make new words, how to put words together and what word combinations are best in what situations. Speech is the verbal means of communicating. Speech consists of articulation, voice and fluency. When a person has trouble understanding others (receptive language), or sharing thoughts, ideas and feelings completely (expressive language), then he or she may have a language disorder. When a person is unable to produce speech sounds correctly or fluently, or has problems with his or her voice, then he or she may have a speech disorder. This is where speech and language therapy comes in. A speech language pathologist works with people who have these difficulties giving them strategies and new ways of learning through fun, innovative ways that makes everyone successful!
