Disability-Friendly vaccine events. VaxAbilities is hosting disability-friendly vaccine events across Massachusetts. These events will have extra staff on hand to provide skilled support to people with disabilities and/or sensory support needs. Most of these events will offer COVID vaccinations for children ages 5 and up, as well as adult initial vaccines and boosters. People with and without disabilities can get vaccinated – including the whole family ages 5+ or staff that may come supporting people with a disability. Step 1: Sign up for one of our events Go to www.VaxAbilities.com to find dates and locations.

Mediation and Facilitation Informational Sessions
Often families and school districts are able to work collaboratively and develop IEPs and 504s to meet the needs of their students; however, when they reach an impasse, it can be frustrating, upsetting, and sometimes leave the parties wondering how to move forward. The BSEA Mediators/Facilitators aim to be both accessible and approachable and we are now offering monthly Informational Zoom sessions. The sessions are free and open to ANYONE who wants to learn more about our services; this includes parents, students, school districts, family support folks, attorneys, advocates, anyone wanting to know more about BSEA Mediation and Facilitation. Please follow this link to get more information on our sessions along with their Zoom Links: https://www.mass.gov/service-details/mediation-and-facilitation-informational-sessions

Please find linked here DESE's 2021-2022 School Year Parent Letter and FAQ: https://www.doe.mass.edu/covid19/sped/sy2022-letter-faq/. It was recently updated to indicate that if parents believe their child has a need for new special education services or if their child has a documented current medical condition that may impact how their child receives special education services, parents should reach out to their child’s school or district to discuss how best to address their child’s unique needs.
